Who Called My Phone?

“Minnetonka Today” Friday, March 27, webcast: City introduces reverse 911 system

The city of Minnetonka has introduced a reverse 911 call system that allows the city to deliver pre-recorded emergency telephone messages to a targeted area of the city or the entire city.
The system, which has been given the name Code Red, allows the city to deliver these messages at a rate of 1,000 calls per minute.
Potential events that could trigger the Code Red system include severe weather, hazardous material spills, illness outbreaks and pandemics.
The city plans to use an existing database of residential phone numbers to contact people, but authorities stress that not all correct phone numbers will initially be in the system.
No one should automatically assume his or her phone number is included, Assistant Fire Chief Jim Flanders said.
Businesses and individuals who have an unlisted phone number, or have recently changed phone numbers or who exclusively use cell phones should contact the city to register their numbers.
To add your information or to opt out of the system visit www.eminnetonka.com and click Code Red.
