How difficult is it for a non-law enforcement person to find out the specific person who called from a specific pay phone? Is there an easy way to do this or is it virtually impossible?
Assuming that the person put coins in to make the call, then it is essentially impossible, unless there is a surveillance camera nearby that gets a good view of the person’s face.
It easy to find out that a particular pay phone was used to call you at a specific time, but if no one is watching the phone and saw the person, then no one has any way of knowing who it was. There is nothing that identifies the caller.
If they really wanted to get into this, then they might be able to take the coins out of the coin box and dust all of them for fingerprints. At least they do that on TV shows
